WHAT DO MIDWIVES DO?

A Certified Nurse-Midwife is a nurse practitioner, or advanced practice provider, who specializes in caring for women and babies during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the first few weeks following birth. Recognizing that each woman is unique, the midwifery model of care supports and encourages women to play an active role in their own health care. Midwives provide evidence-based information to assist each woman in making decisions that are best for her and her baby. Certified nurse-midwives also provide well-woman care for women of all ages across the life span. They have prescriptive authority and can treat common health problems and concerns related to women’s health.

We provide in-home women’s health services including home birth, water birth, and GYN care in Rapid City and the surrounding areas of western South Dakota and eastern Wyoming.
